COURSE DESCRIPTION This performance-oriented vocal music group is open to all students who enjoy singing and performing. Students will warm up with vocal exercises, be taught the rudiments of music theory, correct singing, and prepare vocal pieces for performance. Students will participate in various school functions and liturgies throughout the year. After school rehearsals will be required of all students when preparing for these choral events.


 

COURSE TITLE CHAMBER CHOIR

SUGGESTED GRADE LEVEL 10 - 12

PREREQUISITES Chorus or previous experience and audition (A student may earn up to four credits in choir)

COURSE DESCRIPTION Chamber choir is for students with advanced vocal skills and a serious approach to music. Special attention is given to the rudiments of correct singing, sight-reading skills, and music theory. Students participate in various school functions and liturgies throughout the year. Students also perform in combined concerts and outside of school. After-school rehearsals are required of all students to prepare for these choral events. Freshmen may be admitted based on skill and proficiency.

COURSE DESCRIPTION With an emphasis on music theory, this class is designed for the serious musician who wishes to have a better understanding of the language of music. Music Appreciation offers the student an in-depth study of the elements of music, note and rhythm reading, scales, chord composition and progressions, intervals, ear training, dictation, and many other essential elements. The curriculum of this class is also designed to be interactive and help the student broaden their range of musical tastes by the variety of musical selections and topics studied. This course is suggested for any student who plans to further their education in music.
