Standing out were the performances of Brendan Dooley, Nick Wilson, and the ever-reliable Nathan Mark. The Crusaders will race one last time this Saturday at the Kentucky Horse Park for the KHSAA State Championships. Meet Of Champions The junior high cross country team ran extremely well at the state championships Saturday, October 31 in Lexington, KY. The varsity junior high finished a very impressive 5th place. While the open race was not scored there is no doubt who the winner would’ve been, as the crusaders placed 7 runners in the top 15 places. Finishers in the junior high varsity race were 18th place Cory Eibel, 29th place Jake Plummer, 71st place Austin Vest, 90th place Tony Bessler, 91st place Scott Wilson, 136th place Dylan Strasburger, and 179th place Jared Zerhusen. Finishers in the junior high open race include 3rd place Joseph Hermann, 5th place Luke Tobergte, 6th place Josh Hannon, 9th place Jeff Grayson, 10th place Andrew Smith, 12th place Josh Kemp, 15th place Parker Hungler, 33rd place Jake Ryan, 52nd place Michael “Vinnie” Page, 57th place Josh Wendling, 64th place Zach Koenig, 96th place Nicholas Tobler, and 124th place Daniel Foster. JV Regionals The junior varsity cross country team finished the season Tuesday with the JV Regionals, held at Scott High School. The team was very impressive, placing runners in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 8th positions thereby winning the race.. Runners included, in order of finish: Nathan Lentz, Harrison Davis, Connor McLaughlin, Michael Danahy, Jared Limbach, Connor Snyder, and Nick Lalley. The open race was equally as impressive, as St. Henry scored a mere 22 points to win the event. St. Henry finishers include 2nd place Luke Behler, 3rd place Ben Holland, 4th place Christian Stiene, 5th place Sean Robinson, 8th place Louie Tobergte, 9th place Mitchell Kriege, 15th place Max Lentz, 16th place Kevin Royal, 17th place John Tangney, 26th place Tommy O’Donnell, 27th place Joe Abdelghany, 29th place Christopher Tobler, 30th place Jonathan Nortmann, 32nd place Ryan Niebling, 33rd place Will Legg, 34th place Michael Royal, 36th place Jordan Stovik. St. Henry Invitational The boys’ cross country team ran at their home invitational Saturday. The varsity team finished 3rd behind St. Xavier and Conner. Strong performances from Frank Bruni, Nathan Lentz, and Luke Behler paved the way for the varsity squad. The junior varsity team finished second behind St. Xavier. Although we cannot be satisfied with second place, it was quite an accomplishment when considering the fact that we ran two teams in the varsity race. The JV team was led by an outstanding performance from Connor Snyder and a good performance from Michael Danahy. Most impressive was the victory won by our junior high team, as we walked away with the first place trophy. The junior high team was led by 2nd place finisher Cory Eibel and 5th place Jake Plummer. We now head into the most important part of our season. For the junior high team this means junior high state this Saturday. For the junior varsity team this means JV regionals this Tuesday. For the varsity team this means the regional and state meets beginning in two weeks. 1st at Lexington Catholic The boys’ cross country team won the tightly contested small school division of the Lexington Catholic Invitational Saturday. Truth be told, North Oldham split their top runners into two separate teams. Had they not split the team, they would’ve beat the Crusaders by 5 points. Nevertheless, the trophy went to St. Henry. Zach Haacke had a strong performance, finishing in 34th place as the Crusader’s 4th man. Having run the top 14 runners in the varsity race, the question remained as to just how deep St. Henry’s team truly was. Despite this, St. Henry was able to place 5th out of 25 teams, answering the question. The JV was led by Harrison Davis’ 23rd place and Cory Eibel’s 42nd place. Of most interest is the fact that former AA power Owensboro Catholic, who has moved to class A within the last two years, finished second at the invitational, ensuring an exciting and competitive state meet at the same location in four weeks. 2009 - 2010 Varsity Schedule - Printer-Friendly Version St. Henry's Score is listed first in the results field.
