Service Projects In order to volunteer for the following service opportunity, please go to NKYHelps.org and sign in or create a new account. It only takes a moment and only requires your name and email address. Matthew 25 Ministries is needing assistance sorting and organizing donations. Contact Shelly Clos to arrange a time at shelly@m25m.org or 513.793.6256. Matthew 25 Ministries is located at 11060 Kenwood Road in Cincinnati and has been instrumental in assisting with the Haiti relief efforts. The WAVE Foundation at the Newport Aquarium is looking for volunteers who would like to work in the Summer Naturalist Program. This is open to all high school students ages 14-17 years old. Students selected for the program will have the unique opportunity to interpret exhibits, gain hands on experience with animals and educate guests visiting the Newport Aquarium. In order to participate, students need to submit an application with a letter of recommendation and willing to commit to a minimum of 100 hours of service to the program between May and Labor Day weekend. Applications will be accepted until March 1st. Visit the website www.wavefoundation.org for application and info. The annual "Senior/Senior Prom" will be held at St. Charles Care Center on Friday, April 30th from 6:30-8:00pm. Volunteers are needed to help make appetizers, serve food, decorate, pass out flowers, entertain and mingle with the residents. Sign up on service bulletin board or with Mrs. Kaiser (Rm. 312) or Mrs. Schwarz (Rm. 202). The Carnegie Visual and Performing Arts Center is in need of volunteers (17yrs. or older) on Tuesdays from 3:30-6:30 and Wednesdays from 4:00-6:00 to provide classroom support and teacher assistance with the after school ArtStop education program. They are looking for reliable volunteers that are enthusiastic about working with children and have an interest in the arts. All volunteers must agree to a criminal background check. Volunteers are needed to assist with St. Paul's Fish Fry on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 17th and all the Friday's of Lent (Feb. 19th, 26th, March 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th). You can prepare side dishes to compliment our regular meals or some kind sandwich fillers (ham or egg salad, for example). Our guest families always enjoy healthy - and sinful! - treats for those between meal snack ocassions,too. Bring your own ingredients and use our kitchens to prepare your own speciality! Skills Needed: Volunteers must be able to purchase ingredients, prepare, bake and clean up the kitchen in an unsupervised environment. Must be available between the hours of 2:00pm - 4:00pm or 7:00pm - 9:00pm. Dates and Times Volunteers are Needed: 9/1/2008 - 6/30/2010 Henry Hosea House Volunteer Opportunities: MONDAY THRU FRIDAY: 12:30 - 2:00 PM Wrap silverware, prepare drinks and desserts for the evening meal, and help with any other dinner preperations. 3:45 - 6:00 PM Help serve the evening meal, work in the dish room, wipe tables, basic clean up. 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM Anyone interested in doing pickups of donated items. SATURDAY & SUNDAY: 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM You can prepare and serve a meal. These opportunities are great for any women's, men's or youth Church groups, and are also ideal for community service hours for high school students, or any businesses, and individuals that would like to help. When: Tuesdays & Thursdays, and some Mondays Starts on November 16th and runs through the end of February Where: IHM Time: 4:45pm - 8:00pm They would like to get 6 students to put on a rotation of 2 students per night. High school students are needed to help with Children's Liturgy of the Word at both the 9:30am and 11:30am Sunday Masses at St. Henry Parish. There are typically two volunteers at each Mass: One acts as the leader and presents the lesson, while the other helps keep the children focused on the readings and lesson. In the past, many high school students have enjoyed being a part of this program. You will be given the material for your scheduled time at least one week in advance, so that you can prepare how to best present the material to the children. For high school students, this is an excellent way to serve your parish! Pet Castle Animal Rescue needs volunteers on Saturdays at Pets Mart. Please contact Joyce Berry at 859.760.7098 for further information. Just click the link "FIND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES". It is easy and full of information. Help the Residents of City Heights find jobs. Your service opportunity is to research 4 different jobs that the residents of City Heights (Housing Projects in Covington) could contact and apply based on the information that you obtain.
