NKYHelps.org is a great website to go to for service opportunities in Northern Kentucky. Just click the link "FIND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES". It is easy and full of information.

Ugive.org is another great website to go to for service opportunities and ideas.

We are once again looking for student volunteers for Trick or Treat Trail at the Fall-O-Ween Festival. It is a little different this year, as we have expanded the festival to 3 weekends: Sept 25-26, Oct 2-3 and 9-10, and we are doing the Trail in two 3-hour shifts each day. Students can work multiple days, multiple shifts, whatever they’d like. We are in need of 20-25 volunteers for each shift (but will take more – in case of no-shows). The signup sheet has space for 15 volunteers, but we will definitely take more than that if the interest is there.

Please sign up on service bulletin board if interested.

UGIVE.ORG: Step Up Cincinnati 2010

We here at UGIVE have a vision of change, join us on September 11, 2010 at Covington Landing in Kentucky to make a positive change in your area. Join us and 1,500 of your peers to volunteer from 9 to noon at non-profits all over the Greater Cincinnati area. After a day of rewarding and life changing volunteering we’ll return to Covington Landing for the after party!

When you arrive on the morning of the event you will be able to choose the non-profit you would like to volunteer at. We have a wide variety of volunteer opportunities so there will be something everyone can join and feel proud to participate in.

The after party will begin upon completion of your volunteer service and commence around three. The party will consist of free food, entertainment, music, games, and fun. Each volunteer will receive a raffle ticket upon arrival, and additional raffle tickets can be gained by bringing in a pair of gently used shoes to donate. The more shoes you bring in, the greater chance you have at winning one or more of the amazing prizes.

High school students are needed to help with Children's Liturgy of the Word at both the 9:30am and 11:30am Sunday Masses at St. Henry Parish. There are typically two volunteers at each Mass: One acts as the leader and presents the lesson, while the other helps keep the children focused on the readings and lesson. In the past, many high school students have enjoyed being a part of this program. You will be given the material for your scheduled time at least one week in advance, so that you can prepare how to best present the material to the children. For high school students, this is an excellent way to serve your parish!

For more information or to volunteer, please call or email either Darlene Linkugel at 859.689.0978 or darlenelinkugel@insightbb.com or Laura Ryan at 859.384.8039 or lauraryan@insightbb.com. Once we have a list of names, we will put together a schedule and send it to you; it will also be in the weekly bulletin.

Help the Residents of City Heights find jobs. Your service opportunity is to research 4 different jobs that the residents of City Heights (Housing Projects in Covington) could contact and apply based on the information that you obtain.
3 hours will be given if the following guidelines are covered:
  • Research 4 jobs that are located on the bus line and are reachable for the residents. Remember some only have a high school diploma and some may not!!
  • Create an 8˝ x 11 sheet of paper with all pertinent information. (Name of location, address, phone number, contact person, type of job available & anything else you find out about the occupation)
  • Make it attractive, appealing because this will go on their community job board and many residents take advantage of the information.
Get started right away. Make two copies of your 8˝ X 11 Job Search Papers. Keep one copy to be attached to your reflection and verification sheet and give the other copy to Mrs. Kaiser so that can be immediately helpful to the residents of city heights.
Contact Maureen Kaiser at maureenkaiser@insightbb.com for more information about any of the above opportunities.

Here is a list of places that you could contact for 1 time visit or weekly visits. If there is no contact name, then just ask for the volunteers coordinator.

There are many non-profit organizations, nursing homes, shelters, and childcare facilities that need your volunteer services. If you have a desire to work in a certain area and are unsure about whom to contact, please let me know and I will try to find a location that fits your needs and wants.
